I believe that games like "lawbreakers" kill themselves with this mentality - they literally create a situation where they complain about numbers they still don't need to worry about which in turn brings attention to the less than optimal numbers which then leads to putting newcomers off the game entirely.Īlthough Quake is having a tough start, I don't feel that it will have the same fate. Lastly I want to address the "dead on arrival" BS that floats around any game that doesn't hit the top of steam charts nowadays. It looks great, it plays decent and it has a lot planned for it. I also feel that although the devs have an uphill battle with the engine they chose to build the game on, they are still putting a lot of time, effort and love into making the best game they can. That being said - the game at its core is a blast. Just be aware that it is ever changing - ever balancing and has its bugs and inconveniences. It is a BETA, in my opinion it should still be a "closed beta" but that is neither here nor there.

I for example went from not playing arena shooters at all to actually taking rounds and several games from some really good olschoolers - some at the semi-pro level. Some people make the skill ceiling seem unreachable (and at the very top it definitely is daunting) but it's not impossible to "git gud" in a reasonable amount of time if you put "quality over quantity" in your play time. The biggest issue with this game for the masses is that it has a learning curve - it doesn't reward continuously doing the same wrong things over and over - you will need to improve in order to succeed. I know that there are many opinions about this game and many of them can be very negative at times but all I can provide is my point of view.įirstly, this is a competitive game, if you like learning from your mistakes and adapting each time in order to get better - then you are basically ready. My only competitive experience was playing counter strike. I had never played an arena shooter before but was always itching to play one. I was sitting in your shoes before the beta.
